Bend It Like Nano: Microrobots That Play Soccer!

Hockey not your thing? Baseball too boring? Do all those rules in the NFL just leave you confused? Fear not, wannabe sports fan — here’s a competition that might be your cup of tea: Soccer with Nanobots… aka RoboCup!

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), the federal agency that advances U.S. innovation and competitiveness, is partnering with industry, universities and other organizations to move us toward a future where robots smaller than the eye can see are put to work in a variety of ways.

And how are they doing this? By using the game of soccer as a testing ground for the robotics technologies of the future. Check out the video to see our future athletic superstars in action!
